Hideka joined the Okinawa Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Overseas Visitors Service Development Section in 2011. Due to her ability to speak Mandarin and her background of having lived in Taiwan, she got posted to the Taipei Office immediately.
In 2011 when she first arrived Taipei, only China Airline flies between Taipei and Naha. Now, in 2016, there are 7 different airlines and 10 flights connecting Taipei and Naha. There are also 1 flight connecting Taipei to Ishigaki, 1 flight connecting Taichung and Naha, and 1 flight for Kaohsiung to Naha. And a total of 3 companies that provide cruise routes to Naha from Taiwan.
The relationship between Okinawa and Taiwan is getting closer. In 2014 an MOU was also signed between the Okinawa Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Taiwan Visitors Association. We look forward to more exciting developments for Okinawa Tourism.
